Community Connection with KinderThrift NoCo

We are taking an opportunity to share and celebrate that KinderThrift has committed to being a Stork Support Monthly Contributor since our Giving Season in 2023! Thanks to Maggie Clayton’s continued support we have accomplished much!

Maggie started with Stork Support in 2021 as our volunteer expert on all things second-hand. Helping us to source high-quality, gently-used items to ensure under-resourced families in Northern Colorado had what they needed to care for their new babies.

You could find her often in Nikola’s garage bringing donations she collected from the community, helping to sort and organize. A favorite memory was when she brought a group of postpartum mothers to help create our Postpartum Recovery Kits.

She was a huge support for our first ever Spring Stroller Drive & Distribution sourcing stroller donations and working with families directly at the event. It’s hard to believe that 2025 will mark our 4th annual event.

Maggie has been a champion for our Virtual Angel Tree Program since the very beginning.

Through her sponsorship with KinderThrift (her online thrift shop) her financial support has helped to provide more than 3,000 diapers and counting!

She is an invaluable supporter, but Maggie’s own words say it best!

What inspired you to volunteer for and give to Stork Support?
I have always had a deep passion for volunteering within my community. When I first came across Stork Support, I was in the thick of working as a COVID nurse. I was looking for an outlet, community, and something that aligned with my values and interests. I was yearning to be a mother, but it was not my time yet. Stork Support fit perfectly with passion for volunteering and love of children and supporting mothers. I run a small business reselling children’s clothing, KinderThrift NoCo, and I have enjoyed being able to give back to Stork Support on a monthly basis.

What Stork Support service offering is the most meaningful to you and why?

Oh gosh, I think that every service Stork Support offers is critical and necessary. I truly love connecting with community members at in-person events. I think it’s important to put a face to the name of an organization and connect on a personal level.

Currently, I think the most meaningful service to me that Stork Support offers is infant feeding support. I was a breastfeeding mother until my son was diagnosed with multiple food allergies and switched to a specialty formula. I experienced first hand the stress of trying to find enough formula to feed my baby. It gave me a new understanding of what many mothers go through on a daily basis.

Counting cans and ounces, hoping you have enough to get you to the next delivery. Stork Support helps fill these gaps, keep infants fed, and helps mothers focus on being mothers instead of worrying about formula.

Do have a favorite moment from supporting our community?

My favorite moment from supporting our community has been participating in the Virtual Angel Tree. I have been supporting families in this sort of way since I was in high school. It brings me so much joy and holiday spirit to help make someone else’s holiday season lighter and brighter.

It’s rewarding to get to know the families and pick out gifts to make them feel special and cared for.

Why is it important to you to give?
It is important for me to give because women, parents, and children are deserving of support. I think back to my first year of motherhood, and the support I received then was some of the most important and influential. I don’t think I could have made it through without that. I think all families deserve that.
